New Edition.
A fisherman catches a lobster before it drops back into the water. It came up holding onto the trap,
as though the meal inside might escape. This is not an unusual thing to happen, even today with
powerful hydraulic haulers.
This type of trap skiff first appeared in Lunenburg around 1860, and became popular along the south shore of
Nova Scotia for it's easy rowing and manouvering amoung the rocks. It was still used by some older fishermen
as late as the nineteen seventies. This carving does not show the boat in detail, but only as part
of the scene.
